EPHRATA – Othello baseball scored three runs in the seventh inning to knock off Ephrata 3-1 Wednesday in the District 5/6 tournament.

Othello moves on to face the tournament No. 1 seed Selah on Saturday. Ephrata was eliminated from the tournament with the loss, ending their season.

The Tigers’ lone run came in the bottom of the second inning. Othello starting pitcher Abel Gomez held Ephrata to just one hit over the final five innings.

The Huskies rallied in the ninth, getting back-to-back singles from Camron Valdez and Jay Rodriguez. Jon Garza’s RBI double tied the game at 1-1 before Jaxon Rocha drove in two on an RBI single.

Ephrata starter Trenton Kleyn allowed two runs over six and two-third innings, striking out four while allowing five hits.

Quincy also moved on in the district tournament with a 1-0 win over East Valley on Wednesday. The Jackrabbits face No. 2 seed Ellensburg on Saturday.
