EPHRATA (VIDEO) – Ephrata volleyball finished second in their first tournament of the year, falling to Wenatchee in the championship game.

The Tigers hosted the Ephrata Varsity Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. Ephrata was joined by Quincy and Moses Lake as the teams representing Grant County.

Ephrata opened the tournament with a win against Moses Lake, taking the first set 25-14 and hanging onto a 25-23 win in the second set to win the match.

The Tigers knocked out Zillah in straight sets, 25-18 and 25-23. Ephrata had their hands full with Grandview but moved onto the championship game winning again in straight sets 25-23 and 25-21.

Ephrata battled in the championship game but Wenatchee managed to take the title in two sets both by the score of 25-18.

Hailey Miller led the Tigers with 11 kills in the tournament. Kiana Miller added 61 digs and Denali Sheneman led the team with five aces.

"The girls played strong throughout the day," head coach Britney Ratigan-MacLeod said. "We had a few struggles but it was expected being our first tourney of the year. We definitely have some great all-around players who make huge contributions at the net as we as in the back row."
