Othello Huskies

OTHELLO – The Othello Huskies swept a home twin bill from Grandview Saturday to move to 12-0 in the Central Washington Athletic Conference and 14-0 overall.

The victories allowed Othello to keep pace with Ellensburg for the top spot in the standings.

The Huskies dominated both contests, taking the first 16-0 and the second, 22-0. Game 1 saw Othello pound out 18 hits off the Greyhounds Sadie Ross.

Dominique Martinez struck out seven Grandview batters in three innings of work for Othello. Martinez and Holly Fleshman combined for the no hit shutout.

Diamond Franco came up big at the dish for the Huskies going 2-for-3 with a home runs and a double. Martinez had three hits in three plate appearances with a triple and two doubles. Karissa Valdez went 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Fleshman had two hits in three at bats with two doubles on the game.

Game 2 of the doubleheader was a bigger fiasco for Grandview as Ross gave up 22 hits to Othello.

Madison Martinez tossed a complete no-hitter and fanned eight Greyhounds in the contest. The Huskies had eight extra base hits in the game.

Othello has six games left in the regular season beginning with two at Wapato Tuesday.
