WENATCHEE – The Wenatchee AppleSox put up a team-record 25 runs, including 17 unanswered, in their 25-8 win Monday night against Yakima Valley.
The 25 runs set a new scoring record for the team in league play, passing the previous mark of 22 set in 2013.
All nine starters collected at least two hits as the AppleSox finished with 26 hits in the series-clinching win. All 25 runs were scored without a home run.
Yakima Valley appeared to be the team that would have the big offensive night, scoring six runs in the top of the first.
A 12-run fourth inning gave Wenatchee a 12-6 lead and an eight-run eighth put the game out of reach.
Jalen Garcia went 4-for-5 from the plate, including three doubles, and added three RBIs. Alex Gonzalez led the team with five RBIs in the game.
Moses Lake native Hunter Boyd earned his first win of the season, throwing four innings in relief, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out four.
The AppleSox have won three straight West Coast League series and go for the series-sweep against Yakima Valley on Tuesday in Wenatchee. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
